Balfour Beatty, ELOR Progress

When construction company Balfour Beatty began work on the East Leeds Orbital Route (ELOR) they asked me to start documenting the progress every month for a year. I had some PPE already so just needed to add a few bits to ensure I adhered to their strict on site health and safety rules - and if it keeps me and the folks around me safe - I’m all for it!

Work is well underway on the improvements in Leeds, the workers are on site with blue skies - but it's very chilly!

I enjoy construction photography so much that I self funded a CITB course (which I passed with flying colours, the only person to get full marks and the only female in the room!), so I don’t need a chaperone to keep me safe on site anymore. It’s great because although they were always lovely folks, I knew I was keeping them from the big pile of work they “should” be doing instead of babysitting me…

Community and the environment

are high on their agenda, and theres all kinds of things they stepped in to help out with, from school fields to tree planting - and I created short videos for their socials, stakeholders and project management use.

Lots of local school children and volunteers from the community came along to help plant tree saplings, helping to create a wet woodland.

New School

play areas we so well received by the kids, I love the sheer exuberance they had and enjoyment!

I use my initiative when I’m onsite, finding lots of different types of images that can be used in the various requirements both internally and externally, including pure factual and promotional styles - it certainly keeps your mind concentrated.

PR shots of

the official office opening gave me the chance to leave my PPE in the boot…

The new office was officially opened by Leader of Leeds City Council Councillor Judith Blake and CEO of Leeds City Council Tom Riordan.
