Foodbank Skills Donation

The local foodbank put out an unusual plea for help - they needed a few photos for their website - they needed a photographer.

They chose me.

Welcome one, welcome all, we are a food bank and more.

Before Lockdown...

I had the pleasure of going in a few times to shoot “stock” style multi use images for their site and social channels and various reporting requirements, and I decided to shot this “behind the scenes” video for their website while I was at it.

Getting folks in one place at the same time is always tricky, but we managed to get some team headshots done before a big meeting. I suggested PR images for local businesses who donate regularly, so another day I made a start featuring one of their employees...

Then lockdown happened.

As a non essential person I wasn’t allowed in.

Time to get creative 😉

They’re always busy, but the pandemic has broken all their records - and with a much smaller team - the pressure they are under is immense, so any “remote” help has been appreciated.

I’ve come up with ideas and hashtags, made a few social videos using the assets I’ve already shot/created - and done whatever I could to support their wonderful marketing lady and help get their message out.

I’m proper proud

to donate my skills to such a worthy cause, and yes, there are a lot of worthy causes - but if we all pick one - just imagine the positive impact we’ll make collectively 👍

The Welcome Centre have benefitted from my clients for many years - sounds weird that doesn’t it?! 😁

But instead of sending out Christmas cards, for many years now I’ve emailed my clients my good wishes along with a couple of photos of the big trolley full of food that I’d bought with the card and postage money - and took straight to the foodbank. #GiveaChristmasDinner
